NY Times/AP: Judge Sends Microsoft Case to Supreme Court

“A federal judge sent the landmark Microsoft antitrust case
directly to the Supreme Court Tuesday, handing the Justice
Department a victory in the drawn-out legal battle.”

“U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson also delayed the
part of his June 7 order aimed at imposing restrictions on
Microsoft business practices found to have been anticompetitive.
That order had automatically stayed the breakup of the company into
two parts, pending all appeals.”

The nation’s highest court is nearing the end of its term,
and it was not clear whether the Supreme Court would get into the
case this term. The high court can either accept the case or turn
it back to the appellate court for review.
