“The Linux boot process consists of a boot loader, kernel, and
command processor. First the boot loader starts. The most common
Linux boot loader LILO will present you with a prompt. At the
prompt you can type what operating system you want to load. For a
list of operating system you can load press [tab]. It will display
the command word to use to load a specific OS. After a OS is
specified, LILO loads the appropriate kernel. (The kernel is the
main program that makes up the OS.) After the kernel loads it
prompts the user to login and dumps them into the command processor
