“Recently while strolling through my regular IRC channels, an
interesting thought occurred to me. I was on #linuxhelp having a
discussion with some fellow users about the future of Linux on the
desktop.”
“It was then that it suddenly occurred to me that being in this
community was something special. This tightly knit group of
individuals all work in unison to meet a common goal. Without
trying to sound overly corny, I realized that ours is a community
that aims for a brighter future for all computer users alike.”
“I began to think of the future and the possibility that Linux
might expand outside what many might otherwise consider its back
room server-side confinement. I wondered how this increased
exposure would affect the community of which I have grown to be a
big part.”
“Because Linux is developed by volunteers and supported
primarily by individuals in both chat rooms and newsgroups, I
wondered what would happen to our beloved Linux community if this
sudden market share increase were ever to occur.”
