“From Jeff Gerhardt of The Linux(r) Show!!
I want to personally thank the members of the Linux Community
with the huge response on the BPS Internet Access
fundraiser for The Benevolent Penguin Society. I am thrilled. It
shows one of two things, maybe you all really are good hearted, or
maybe its just that you want the DSL real bad (probably both huh!)
😉
We have been bombed with requests for service availability.
We are processing those requests as fast as we can. As of 1:15 am
Chicago time we are caught up and are going home to go to
bed.
If you would like to see if service is available at your home or
business location, fill out the form at http://www.linux.pinnatel.net/Archive/dsl_request.html
Please please, check out the list of the 22 cities that we are
starting service with. If you are not within 100 miles of one of
these cities, service is not available ( we got one request from
Taiwan). Suburbs of these cities are very good possibilities.
You have already gotten an email from us if you have filled out
the form as of 1:15 am Thursday morning.
The Benchmark price of $49.88/mo for 384K/128K consumer ADSL is
the initial service offering.
This is a fund raiser that has JUST started, so orders will be
taken in the future. But, orders must be placed by 12/31/1999 to
qualify for rebate. Accounts will not be activated until they are
installed. Because of the rebate of $150.00, we are going to cut
you folks some slack and stay open till noon Chicago time on the
31st. We have a party to go to on Thursday night and were not
anxious to work.
It may very well be that Covad has another rebate planned,
butthey are not talking right now. If a better deal comes out, we
will cancel the orders.
Again, service is being offered in these 22 markets ONLY.
