“An emboldened Justice Department is now seeking aggressive
punitive sanctions against Microsoft Corp., increasing the
possibility that Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson would break up the
company or force it to open up its Windows computer operating
system to rivals.”

“The company could be forced to divest its application software
and Internet divisions, or split into smaller units competing with
each other in the operating system business.”

” ‘We are now in a position to get a rather dramatic

lead plaintiff of the 19 states in the case. ‘And it’s an
overwhelming opinion now that it has to address their monopoly in
operating systems,’
