[ Thanks to Scott Murray
for this announcement: ]
I am pleased to report that the analysis of LPI’s 101 beta exam
will be complete by the end of the week. Scores will be mailed to
candidates who completed the exams, and the exams will be revised
and republished. Scores will be delivered through postal mail to
protect candidate confidentiality.
The analysis focused on examining the statistical properties of
candidates’ resposes to each of the 120 questions on the two
versions of the exam. Our psychometric staff assessed the quality
of each question by considering the percent of candidates who
answered it correctly and the degree to which correct answers to
one question correlate with overall exam scores. A small number of
test questions were found to perform inadequately. These questions
will not be counted in the scoring and will be replaced with new
ones on the revised versions of the exam.
Our team also considered comments on the questions provided by
candidates and others who reviewed the exams. These comments played
a role in determing which exam questions needed to be completely
rewritten or edited.
A key part of the process was determining the minimum passing
score for the exams. To do this, we drew upon the technical
expertise of a team of Linux professionals.
Candidate score reports are being generated now and will be
mailed out at the first of next week.
The revised exam will be republished through VUE and should be
available in a few weeks. Once this is done, future examinees will
receive score reports immediately upon completion of the exam.
Candidates who take the exam over the next few weeks will receive
score reports via postal mail within a few weeks of completing the
exam.
The beta period for the 102 exam is nearing completion. Scores
for this exam will be provided in 3-6 weeks.
