“With the advent of the new standard, a couple of vendors have
launched “cash for clunkers-themed” promotions to
encourage legacy users to upgrade their equipment.“San Francisco-based innovator, Meraki, announced its
“Cash for Wireless LAN Clunkers” event on September
9th. The special promotion [represented by the photo, right,
courtesy of Meraki] includes a $150 credit for each access point
traded in for a Meraki network. To qualify for Cash for Wireless
LAN Clunkers, customers must register with Meraki and make their

challenging for organizations that want to upgrade their IT
infrastructures,” said Ivan Montoya, Vice President of
Marketing at Meraki in a press release. “So we want to make
it easier for them to trade-up from an aging 802.11b/g wireless
network to a Meraki 802.11n wireless LAN, the new
standard.”“Meru Networks also announced its “Cash-4-Clunkers”
promotion today. The initiative will offer enterprise businesses a
rebate of $200 per legacy AP using micro-cell technology when
traded in and replaced with the purchase of one with Meru’s
802.11n wireless LAN virtual cell technology.”
