InfoWorld: Sides in Microsoft case grapple with AOL-Netscape issue

Calling America Online’s $4.2 billion agreement to purchase
Netscape Communications a “seismic change” in the competitive
landscape, Microsoft here Tuesday urged the government to drop its
antitrust case.

“You can’t say that it (the Netscape-AOL deal) will have no
effect,” said David Boies, the Justice Department’s lead trial
counsel.
